ICEBERG moves to channel 151
on Wednesday May 4, 2011!!
Sirius Satellite Radio will re-align many channels on Wednesday May 4, 2011. ICEBERG will be moving from channel 85 to its new home on channel 151 in the new "Canadian" section!
Here's what will happen when you turn on your Sirius Satellite Radio receiver on May 4th:
On May 4th, Sirius XM radio will receive an update and will need about five minutes to update the channel numbers the radio is turned on. During this time, the audio you hear may not match what is shown on your display and you may see messaging such as “updating channels” or “acquiring signal” on your radio’s display.
Sirius XM says subscribers should let the update complete before changing any channels which could delay the update from being completed. Presets should be updated as the preset buttons should automatically ‘follow’ any channels that you’ve preset to their new locations.

Bedouin Soundclash returned to perform a live acoustic version of Mountain Top. They were also the featured artist on our ICEBERG 85 Canadian Concert Series live from the Capital Theatre in Ottawa which aired on November 28th at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. I had a chat with Cam Melnyk from the band State Of Shock about work on their new record plus we got the lowdown on his new single with the band HWY 99 during my Sunday November 28th show!

The Partland Brothers!
Well this one was a treat!!! Many years ago, I was hired into a great Canadian band called Oliver Heaviside. The band proved to be monumentally popular on the circuit. Eventually, we went into ESP studios with Dee Long (Klaatu) at the controls and produced a demo. The band's name was changed to "The Partland Brothers" and the band went on to have a huge hit pop single called "Soul City".
Well, on Saturday October 23, Chris and GP Partland dropped by on my show for our big reunion!!!!! We chatted, spun some tunes and they performed a live version of their song "Divine Intervention" from their album "This Is Who I Am"!

Anybody who's ever heard my show knows that I've had a monster crush on
Chantal since I first heard her music. She has a new CD
called
"Plain Jane".
I had a great time chatting with her recently in our interview and during the recording of her "Takeover" show. Sam, the label rep from Maple Music always gets a little nervous with me when he brings in beautiful Canadian female singers because he knows that I always fall in love with them.
Well, this time was no different. Completely unfazed by the fact that Chantal has been married to Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace for about a decade, I decided to fulfill my dream and propose to her!!!

I'm proud to be working for a corporation that allows me to be myself. I have to have fun in what I'm doing. So it was no surprise that I would arrange a prank on my program director's last day before moving to Montreal. The premise was that all the jocks on our Sirius channel - ICEBERG 85 received a parka from Sirius Canada as a Christmas gift, but he did not! (I think he might have been a little miffed about it). I ended up negotiating a jacket for him and to present it to him, I pulled him into the studio with the premise that he was approving a piece of station imaging that was an angry holiday greeting from a staffer.

artist Haydain Neale of jacksoul passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009
at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, after a very private seven month
battle with lung cancer.
On a beautiful, sunny morning with his wife Michaela, daughter Yasmin, brother-in-law Shawn Hudson and friends Davide DiRenzo and Jennifer Hyland by his side, Haydain passed away peacefully.
Throughout his rehabilitation after a car accident in August 2007 and during his illness, Haydain always maintained a positive spirit.
In a statement from his wife Michaela; “Through all these challenges, Haydain’s sense of humour and love of music were ever-present. He constantly brightened the room with his singing and his smile. His joyful presence and beautiful voice will be missed by us all.”
An interment with a private family gathering will take place later this week.
The family appreciates your messages of condolence but requests that you respect their privacy during this difficult time.

KJ hosted a crazy 70's retro party for our sister station 97.3 EZ-Rock and we felt that it just wasn't safe to put him on the air on our all-Canadian rock station ICEBERG 85 until he unwound from that disco mode a bit. He's back on halloween! (How fitting!!!!)Here's the photographic proof that we did the right thing!!!!!
